How do I best prepare for my massage? It’s always good to drink water both before and after your treatment. You want to help your body flush the toxins that the massage will release from your body. Water is a great way to do that. Also leave a little early. It’s that much harder to relax you if you’re stressed out from the ride here. Wear loose fitting clothing or bring clothes to change into. I realize you may be coming from work but after your massage the last thing you’re going to feel like doing is putting on a tie or panty hose. Throw something comfortable to wear in your car on massage day. Most of all relax. Take a deep breath and let it all go. Concentrate on your body and what it’s trying to tell you. Where are your areas of stress? By communicating these to your therapist, you will make the most of your massage time.
What is CranioSacral Therapy? CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was discovered by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger in 1970, after he witnessed the rhythmic movement of the system (which is composed of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord) during a spinal surgery. He developed methods to access the system and in 1975 joined the Osteopathic College at Michigan State as a clinical researcher and professor of biomechanics. There he led a team of anatomists, physiologists, biophysicists and bioengineers to test and document the influence of the therapy on the craniosacral system (which is a really fancy way of saying, it has been scientifically proven to work). CST is performed on a person fully clothed. Using a light touch-generally no more than the weight of a nickel - the practitioner monitors the rhythm of the movement of the spinal fluid to detect restrictions and imbalances. The therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undo pressure on the brain and spinal cord. This allows the Nervous System to perform at its best which puts the body in a state of balance and well-being. CST is progressive work (meaning you will usually need more than 1 session depending on your injury or illness) but results can be felt for most people after 1 session. Some clients have reported as much as an 80% decrease in pain after their first session.

What is Neuro Muscular Therapy? A Neuro Muscular Treatment or NMT is a trigger point therapy that deals with muscles or muscle groups that are injured or in chronic pain. Unlike the long strokes of a Swedish Massage, this direct pressure massage is more localized and may produce mild discomfort during or after the massage is over. Note: this treatment should not be proformed within the first 72 hours of injury. Cranio-Sacral therapy is highly recommended during this time.

What is a LaStone Massage and how does it differ from another hot stone massage? A La Stone massage is a treatment that uses hot and cold stones for the ultimate relaxation experience. Warmed basalt stones are applied to the body to flush fresh blood into tight tired muscles, then cold stones are applied to constrict the muscle thus flushing out the lactic acid and metabolic waste leaving you feeling totally relaxed.
What is aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is the use of therapeutic grade oils applied to the skin to bring about certain physiological changes in the body. Unlike other places that only use one oil we use a combination of several different oils applied to different parts of the body to bring you to another level of relaxation. (Warning: people with severe allergies should alert therapist before treatment.)
What is ear candling? Ear candling or ear coning as it is also known has been around for a long time and has been used in Native American, Chinese, Egyptian, Tibetan and even Mayan cultures. A thin cone or ‘candle is inserted into the ear then lit creating a vacuum that gently draws the wax out of the ear canal. This treatment has been used for people who suffer from allergies, congestion, certain hearing problems, ear aches and sinus infections.
